Carpet & Rug Cleaning Questions, Answered for Dayton
Straight answers to the things Dayton homeowners and business owners ask us most, from dry time and cost to pet odor and our guarantee. Don't see your question? Get in touch and we'll walk you through it.
The basics
For a typical Dayton home, we're usually in and out in a couple of hours. The number of rooms, how dirty the carpet is, and whether you need pet or stain work all move the clock a little. We'll give you a real time estimate when we quote the job so you can plan your day.
Most carpet is dry to the touch in a few hours, often 4 to 6. We pull as much water back out as we can with the extraction wand, so your carpet is damp, not soaked. Open a few windows or run a fan and it dries faster. You can walk on it right away in clean socks, just wait until it's fully dry before you put heavy furniture back.
Plan on a professional cleaning every 12 to 18 months. That's the range the EPA points to for indoor air quality, and it holds up well for Dayton homes. If you've got kids, pets, or a busy front room, lean toward the 12-month end. A quieter house with less traffic can stretch closer to 18 months.
Yes. We move the normal stuff, sofas, chairs, coffee tables, and clean underneath, then set it back. We ask that you clear off small items and breakables ahead of time. We don't move big, heavy pieces like pianos, china cabinets, or beds you don't want touched, and we can just clean around those.
Cost & scheduling
Most Dayton homeowners pay $100 to $280 for whole-home carpet cleaning, depending on square footage and how many rooms you want done. Per room it runs about $30 to $70. Bigger four-bedroom homes land in the $200 to $330 range. See our carpet cleaning cost guide for the full breakdown, or tell us about your place and we'll give you a real number.
Area rug cleaning runs about $3 to $8 per square foot. Wool and Persian rugs sit at the higher end, roughly $4 to $8, because they need gentler handling. Synthetic rugs are cheaper, around $2 to $4. Check the rug cleaning cost guide for details on your rug type.
Cleaning methods
We use hot water extraction, which most people call steam cleaning. First we pre-treat the carpet with a cleaning solution and give it time to break down the dirt and oils, that wait is called dwell time. Then we push hot water deep into the fibers and pull it right back out with a strong extraction wand, taking the loosened dirt with it. It reaches all the way down to the backing where a store-bought machine can't, and it doesn't leave soapy residue behind that makes carpet get dirty again fast.
Stains, pets & rugs
Usually, yes. Pet smell comes from the source soaking into the carpet and the pad, so we treat it with an enzyme product that breaks the odor down instead of just covering it up. Surface cleaning alone won't do it. Be straight with us about how bad it is, because a stain that soaked all the way through to the pad may need the pad replaced to fully kill the smell. Our pet stain and odor page walks through how we handle it.
Most of the time, yes. Red wine, coffee, juice, and everyday spills come out with the right pre-treatment and hot water extraction. We'll be honest with you, though: some stains that have set for a long time, or ones already scrubbed with the wrong product, can be permanent. We'll tell you upfront what we think we can get. Our stain removal page has more on what lifts and what doesn't.
Yes. We clean area rugs of all sizes and fibers, including wool and Persian rugs, and we match the cleaning to the material so the colors and texture come back without damage. Delicate and antique rugs get a gentler approach. See our rug cleaning page for what we handle.
We do. Sofas, chairs, sectionals, and ottomans get cleaned with a method matched to the fabric so the color and feel come back and nothing gets over-wet. It pairs well with a carpet cleaning while we're already at your place. Our upholstery cleaning page has the details.
